Rentabiliweb Europe is announcing today that it has received accreditation from the Romanian National Bank (BNR) to provide payment services directly to Romanian online retailers.

Rentabiliweb Group, the first French Payment Institution to benefit from the European passporting, is namely authorized to provide solutions to execute bank transfers, the issuing of payment instruments and the acquisition of payment orders through bankcard. This accreditation also enables the Rentabiliweb Group to provide custody services as well as data recording and processing services.

This accreditation further consolidates Rentabiliweb’s position in a fast growing market with considerable potential in the future. In 2010, the Romanian e-commerce market using credit card payment grew by 38% compared to 2009, reaching a total of 127.8 million euros. The number of processed transactions increased by 82% to 2,26 million transactions.

The Group intends to support the development of its European customers by offering complete and optimized ultra-secure solutions in France but also across Europe and worldwide. This development in Romania is consistent with the Group’s strategy and in particular with its policy of investing in the Eastern European markets. Alongside its Romanian subsidiary, established in 2006, the presence of Rentabiliweb in this area is complemented by offices in Bulgaria and Russia.

“For several years now the Group Rentabiliweb maintains very close relations with Romania and on- line professionals in this country. It is a modern and dynamic country that is orientated towards new technology and also proves a little more each day that it will play a major role in the construction of Europe’s digital future,” says Jean-Descroix-Baptiste Vernier, Chairman of Rentabiliweb Group.

In addition to Romania, a country with 8 million internet users, the Group has already obtained the necessary approval to provide their payment services in Germany, Spain, Belgium, UK and Luxembourg, and is looking to do the same in Italy very soon.
